Lunch at Tatiana's, then Sassafras Creek

You know it’s a lazy day when your planned Saturday brunch turns out to be lunch by the time you get there. Delicious food and welcoming staff at Tatiana’s cafe in Monbulk.

A short trip down the road to walk along Sassafras Creek – what a picturesque find! An easy flat windy walk which ended up at Lyrebird Falls reception centre.

Charging

By the time we returned home, the solar panels had just finished topping up our house battery. We plugged the car in and let it automatically take the remaining solar power of the day. It’s a cloudy day, but the solar still managed to supply more than enough for our EV, cooking, heating, appliances, with some leftover to export to the grid.

  1. Great post once again! We pick up our Tesla next Wednesday and have a similar set up to you with regards to Solar and Tesla Powerwall. Do you use a third party app to control solar only to your Model 3?

    1. John Gerri Delves Congrats on your new Tesla ☺️. We mostly just use the Tesla app’s newly added feature “charge on solar” also called “driving on sunshine”. The system uses only solar power to charge the car and the house Powerwall battery. It’s all automatic. It will generally prefer to charge the car. If I want it to instead charge the house battery first, then I just stop the car charging.

I also still pay with the ChargeHQ app which has more features and settings, if you’re nerdy enough to care. For instance, we can set it to stop charging the car when the grid export price (feed in tariff) is above a given price.
