A balcony stay at Park Ridge Retreat, Gerringong

Bombala + Central Coast 2024

Last night we checked into Park Ridge Retreat in Gerringong, NSW. Nice staff and place with a balcony view over the front garden. Bonus destination chargers on site.

The fridge had a freezer for our ice packs! But, like many places, the fridge is encased in a cabinet with no ventilation. So, it gets very hot and makes the fridge work extra hard.

Charging

The hotel’s destination chargers seem set up well. There’s a flat $25 usage fee. Since we had more than half a tank, it wasn’t quite worth us using it. If I’d planned ahead, I probably would have not charged at the previous stop and instead filled up here. Too many charging options is a nice problem to have.

  1. The Berry charger is very close to there. $25 flat fee is pretty much a ripoff. I know a few places charge it, but really, it’s money for jam, like coffee prices.

    1. Martin Harrington The electricity is at most 40c/kWh, when used over several hours. A theoretical 100% fill of a typical 60kWh battery would cost $24. So, the $25 is about the theoretical maximum – probably half that in reality. The buffer would cover maintenance etc, so seems reasonable. But just not worth it for the more typical half a battery to up, like in our case.
