Sold out at Versailles, so we wandered the gardens

Europe 2024 (NL / IT / FR)

We arrived at at the Palace of Versailles, passed the golden gates and the armed guards, only to discover that tickets to the actual palace were completely sold out for today. So, we spent the afternoon wandering the magnificent gardens (which also required tickets).

But first, lunch at one of the restaurants, which turned out to be big plate (and bill), small meal. Fancy and delicious, though.

We bought tickets to the palace for tomorrow, which means another trip back here from our accommodation on the other side of Paris.

Charging

We looked for a nearby EV charger, which would have also given us free parking, but they were taken. So, we paid about $30 for parking near the front gate. We’ll charge on the way to our accommodation, while having dinner.

  1. Take the train tomorrow. Cheaper & easier & nice scenery to both enjoy.

    1. John Myers Ha ha. That is a very good question. We needed somewhere to store our belongings, because we were paying too much for a storage shed 😉. No. We traveled the east coast of Australia for a year, after intending to only do so for two months. We settled in Emerald Victoria in December last year. We spent the past two months road tripping in Europe. But we’re back home again now. The posts are a couple of weeks behind.

      2. John Myers Yes. We drove a Y for two months in Europe. We like that it’s easier to get in and out and to access the luggage or storage. Not quite as sporty as our Model 3, though. We’ll probably get a Model Y when Tesla releases the new “Juniper” model in the new year. We’re also considering alternative EVs, but the Tesla Model Y seems the best in value, efficiency, technology, ease of charging etc.
