A truck blocks the Mittagong Motel EV charger

Snowy Mountains + Gippsland 2025–26

Last night we stayed at the Mittagong Motel. Good value stopover.

Bonus EV charger in the car park. Unfortunately, the driver of a truck and trailer apparently couldn’t read the sign that specified that spot being just for EV charging. So, we had to do some creative parking and cabling to connect.

In the morning, fully charged for the final drive to Newcastle.

  1. The motel operator couldn't deal with their recalcitran customer?

    1. Frankly Mydear The guy at reception barely knew about the charger when we checked in, soo I didn’t fancy my chances.

  2. Do you get notified of someone else wanted to use the charger?

    1. Kylie Gilroy Via the ChargeHub app, I suspect not. I did check-in via the PlugShare app, so if anyone checked-in as waiting, I would be notified. Unlikely, though, since overnight.

The charging unit also has a second outlet for another EV to charge, if they can get around the ICEing truck.

      1. Tesla Tripping oh can you checking as waiting, I never knew that.

I've seen lots of posts where people complain because others have just left their cars charging even when full so I presume those who were charging never checked in and those waiting didn't either.

That's good that 2 cars can charge off the one outlet.

      2. Kylie Gilroy You prompted me to double check. Yes, it’s still an option in the PlugShare app.

      3. Tesla Tripping ahhh ok, just shows how much I check in, or lack of checking in 🤣 but I haven't used a non Tesla charger for a long time now so I don't check in when using superchargers, they are never full of cars anyway.
