First go at the new West Gosford Superchargers

Snowy Mountains + Gippsland 2025–26

First time using the new Tesla Superchargers in West Gosford. It’s a bit of a walk to find a toilet or food. Fortunately, all I needed was some time to answer messages.

I watched a BYD Shark ute pull up, front first, then switched to rear first, then seemingly gave up. Maybe their first time at a public charger?

  1. Head the other way to Coles next time. Still a trek though

  2. Walk to Bunnings, or the Club, there is a pop up Coffee shop beside Anaconda, and across bridge McDonald, Servo has coffee and toilets. 5 min walk max. New chargers great for Central coast.

  3. I’m not sure why a PHEV would bother with fast DC charging. In any event, I believe they max out at 50kW, and as with any battery, reduce speed as they fill up.
(Just stick with petrol until you can charge at the right price at home.)

    1. David Nye I just looked it up. You’re right. The BYD Shark maxes out at 55kW on a DC (fast) charger. That’s not too bad, though. Its 30kWh battery is bigger than most PHEV batteries, but of course the vehicle is also big, so it only gets 100km on battery, before switching to petrol backup generator.

For a road trip, I wonder which is cheaper per km for them 🤔

  4. Yep , not much interesting around there. Good coffee on Manns road though. Legend Coffee. If you are early enough.

  5. There’s a toilet in the centre next to the chargers, though only when it’s open for trading.

  6. I’ve previously used these ones. Perfect possie and how good is it seeing that battery percentage count up so quickly!
