A phantom passenger, leaving Mudgee

HQ

We left Mudgee with a mysterious extra passenger who wouldn’t fasten their seatbelt. The bags in the passenger seat seemed to trick the Tesla into thinking someone was sitting there.

We tried tapping the alert in the Tesla screen to mute it, but that didn’t work. According to a Google search, that’s not supported in Australia 🤦.

In the end, we just pulled over and plugged in that seatbelt. Problem solved.

  1. Did you just plug the seatbelt in. We had to do that sometimes with the dogs 😃

    1. Krissy Robinson yes, we pulled over and plugged in the seat belt. Weird that the heavy fridge didn’t trigger it for the other seats.

  2. Outside of Australia you can disable the alarm by tapping the red icon on the seat. I think that disabling warnings must be against ADR in Australia or something, hence the feature being disabled.

    1. Alexei Watson . A bit like the sign "Passenger airbag on". In other countries, one can switch that bag off, so it can't injure an infant. Here infant seats cannot be carried on the front seat.

    2. Yes, saves you from damaging the belts if you decide to just fasten them and happen to be carrying the iron throne for example.
