Plugged in next to Kristie's BYD

NSW → QLD Road Trip 2022–23

Chatted with Kristie, who was driving her BYD back to Ayr. Kristie checked in as “waiting” via PlugShare, which then alerted me that someone was waiting after me. Unfortunately, although I had entered my charging time into PlugShare, it doesn’t tell the next person how long they need to wait 🤔.

Kristie said she has also previously been caught out at the faulted RACQ Chargefox 50kW charger at Marlborough Service Station, and had the use the slow (7kW?) AC charger. She said it had been broken (perhaps on and off?) since March last year! How is this okay Queensland Government and Mark Bailey MP?

This also explains the congestion at the Rockhampton charger 🙄.

  1. When I was in Rocky four months ago, it was heavily congested as well. Very annoying that Tesla keep pushing off the Supercharger site for Rocky. It's now over a year behind schedule, putting all the pressure on the sole DCFC at the council chambers.

    1. John Chidgey How frustrating. But I do think it should be our government (attn Mark Bailey MP) implementing better EV infrastructure, not them passing it off to Tesla. Do you agree?

They seem to make a big song and dance about things like “The Queensland Electric Super Highway” when they install one solitary DC charger in towns hundreds of kilometres apart, but seem to fail at ramping up the number of chargers at those sites or maintaining the ones we have.

      1. Tesla Tripping very true. QESH and other state equivalent initiatives have significant state and occasionally federal funding and they pollies love giving themselves praise the day they open these chargers.
But when they fail every other week (Tritium) they’re nowhere to be seen.

      2. Tesla Tripping I asked Mick De Brenni as my local member for assistance with more charging and was laughed at and blocked. He is the Minister for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen and Minister for Public Works and Procurement of Queensland. You would think he would want to help.
The QLD ALP is not proactive.

  2. Such a joke. Drove down in December and malborough was out, Rocky was on and off. It’s now off again. Disgusting service
