Back to Barmedman, where I started school

Fully Charged Sydney + Victoria 2023

We drove through the tiny town of Barmedman, in western NSW. I (Tom) started school here many decades ago. Today I chatted with one of the school teachers, to explain why some stranger was taking photos out the front. She said that it happens often! I said I came to the school in kindergarten and that I think I got the cane while there. She said she wasn’t surprised. I said I thought that was a bit judgey, since she’d just meet me. She said she meant that several people had told her that they had received the cane.

Population: 200
Number of students in the school: 10

My old house doesn’t seem to have changed much, except for the solar panels.

  1. Not sure which direction you are going, but The Dog on the Tuckerbox in Gundagai is a great visit after a stunning and fun hilly drive and the NRMA free charger at Juigong is right opposite a wine bar which looked amazing and I would have loved to try, except it wasn't really something I wanted to do solo :) enjoy your drive!

    1. Thanks. We have dropped by the Dog On The Tucker Box several times before, but not yet in an EV. We're too far west for that on this leg, but we might go through there on our way south again in a couple of weeks.
